A mysterious new world was teased at the very end of the trailer, which you can check out now.

In case you have been living in a (clear) pipe for the past few years, Super Mario 3D World is a course-based 3D game made as a successor to the Nintendo 3DS game Super Mario 3D Land. You can play as Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad in the main campaign alongside three other players. The latter three characters each have their own special quirks, such as Luigi jumping higher, Peach being able to float, and Toad being the fastest runner. New power-ups include the Super Bell that turns our heroes into Cat forms and the Double Cherry that splits players into multiple copies of themselves.

As for Bowser’s Fury, the trailer shows off a rainy group of islands which are clearly cat-themed. With Bowser defeated at the end of the main game, it seems that he will be revived somehow and offer new, tough challenges for Cat Mario to face.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury releases on Nintendo Switch on February 12, 2021. The game originally released on Wii U, and later got its own theme in Super Mario Maker 2.
