I’m not going to lie; I’m kind of glad E3 is over. It was an exhausting week for everyone involved, and it’s a good thing that the expo only takes place once a year. That said, I liked this year’s E3 very much.

 

I feel like every E3 has a “theme” or a trend, and this year’s theme was that of convenience, between the Wii U and some of the save-transfer functionality between the PSVita and PlayStation 3. I very much like the idea of games being more flexible with regard to how and where you play them.

 

Anyhow, on to this week’s three stories that you missed! I think different kinds of readers would like to know about each of these, so in case you missed them during the E3 rush, here they are:

 

 

 

Super Pokémon Rumble Will Rumble On Nintendo 3DS In July

The very first actual Pokémon game on the Nintendo 3DS will be a follow-up to Pokémon Rumble on WiiWare. It’s far from the kind of “event game” the Pokémon RPGs are, but we’re still probably going to see a strong 3DS sales boost in July.

 

Rhythm Heaven Uses No Motion Controls For Samurai Mini-Game

The Last Story and Xenoblade weren’t at E3 — no, that doesn’t mean they aren’t coming — but Nintendo did bring a Japanese build of the new Rhythm Heaven to the show, which Spencer got to try out.

 

Nintendo Excavate Super Fossil Fighters To Fatten The Nintendo DS Line-up

Despite the fact that the 3DS is out, it looks like the regular DS still has a lot of life left in it, considering some of the games that were announced — and some additional ones which were weren’t — at E3. One of these is Fossil Fighters, co-developed by Nintendo and Red Entertainment. It’s similar in some respects to Pokémon, but with dinosaurs.
