Street Fighter Producer, Ono, Advising On Remember Me’s Combat

Street Fighter series producer, Yoshinori Ono, has been visiting and advising Dontnod Entertainment, the developers of upcoming action game, Remember Me, which will be published by Capcom next year.

Specifically, Ono has been advising the Paris-based developer on the game’s melee combat system, according to a Eurogamer report.

“He’s my boss and he and I speak very regularly about the game, and he’s come out with me to Paris,” Capcom senior producer, Mat Hart, shared with Eurogamer. “He knows the team and knows the game very well. I always benefit from his wisdom when I’m chatting to him about how we’re progressing.”

Remember Me has a combo-based combat system, complete with special moves and finishing moves. “What we tried to is keep those combos as accessible as possible so they don’t take too much skill to perform,” Dontnod co-founder, Jean-Maxime Moris, revealed.

Producer, Hart, likens Capcom and Dontnod’s collaboration on Remember Me’s development to that of DmC Devil May Cry, where both the developer (Ninja Theory), as well as Capcom, take an active role in the game’s creation. Hart says Capcom are moving away from the old-fashioned approach of the developer and publisher being “adversarial”.

Capcom intend to turn Remember Me into a major franchise, Hart adds.

Remember Me takes place in a futuristic setting. You play as Nilin, a “memory hunter” who is on the run from the law after having escaped arrest. The game lets you enter the minds of other characters in the game and modify their memories, changing their perspective towards the situations and people around them.
