Steins;Gate John Titor Tease Was for Operation Fortuna Retweet Campaign

Steins Gate

On July 27, 2020, Siliconera reported on the mysterious appearance of the Steins;Gate “John Titor” figure on Twitter. It has since been revealed that the “Operation Fortuna” mission is a Twitter retweet campaign with free copies of Steins Gate on Steam on the line. The official page for the campaign is now open.

The campaign will run from July 28 until August 3, 2020 and will have players virtually retrieving Metal Upa so that Mayuri will not have the chance to do obtain one and inadvertently start World War III. Due to the effects of the Attractor Field, collecting all the Metal Upa within Akihabara isn’t enough, as Mayuri may travel to other areas in Japan in order to get it. As such, as many Metal Upa as possible need to be obtained in order to complete the task.

Taking part is simple. First, follow the official account for the Science Adventure Series on Twitter, and then retweet the latest tweet with the hashtag #第三次世界大戦を回避せよ. This will send you an automated reply where you will either get a normal or Metal Upa. If you get a Metal Upa, you will be gifted either a Steam code for Steins;Gate or a QUO Card (gift card) as a reward. While people anywhere in the world can retweet this message, the official site noted that the present giveaway is limited to people within Japan only. You can try this campaign out every day until August 3, 2020 at 23:59 JST.

Steins Gate first released in Japan on October 15, 2009 for the Xbox 360. Its remake, Steins;Gate Elite, is available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and PC via Steam. In 2019, the game celebrated its 10th anniversary.
