State of Emergency 2 gets its financial revenge on Japan

Spike the designers of the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series and Crimson Tears are no strangers to bringing Western games into Japan. They recently published Pursuit Force an excellent PSP action game and have True Crime: Streets of New York in their upcoming line up. For some reason they also picked up State of Emergency 2, renamed State of Emergency: Revenge, a less than stellar sequel to a mediocre game originally developed by Rockstar. Even Rockstar thought that State of Emergency series wasn’t worth it and passed the series on to South Peak Interactive who released State of Emergency 2 for a suggested retail price of $29.99. If you want to play the game in Japan be prepared to fork out 7,140 yen ($62) for it. In Japan it isn’t unusual for the price of games to fluctuate, but to put it in perspective Super Paper Mario costs 5,800 yen ($50) and Final Fantasy III DS which comes out on the same day is 5,980 yen ($52). Also interesting to note is that this is only getting a CERO “D” ranking instead of “Z” like the Grand Theft Auto series.
