Stardew Valley Will Go Bananas in Its Next Update

We already know a new, free Stardew Valley update is on the way. Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone confirmed it back in February 2020. While details about what it could involve haven’t been offered, fans did help influence one of its inclusions. Stardew Valley banana trees are on the way!

It all began when Barone posted a Twitter poll on April 7, 2020. It asked people which one of four possible fruit-bearing trees they would like to see in the game. The options were avocado, banana, mango, and passion fruit. (Yes, people in the comments then appeared to enlighten the developer about the nature of these sorts of produce, pointing out passion fruit grows on a vine and that palm trees are actually a grass.)

Barone then returned a day later to confirm bananas had won. However, he also noted that mango was a runner up, which hints that it could also be implemented in Stardew Valley update 1.5.

A new kind of fruit means a potential for new recipes. Stardew Valley is like Story of Seasons, in that anything a person grows could be used to make additional sorts of food. Perhaps this means we could see new dishes like banana bread or perhaps people would be able to combine a banana with ice cream for a sundae.

Stardew Valley is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, PC, and both Android and Apple iOS devices, however, recent updates have not appeared on the PlayStation Vita. Over 10 million copies have been sold as of January 2020.
