Stardew Valley 1.5 Console

On December 27, 2020, Eric “Concerned Ape” Barone announced that the new 1.5 update for his indie game, Stardew Valley, could release on consoles by the end of January, 2021. According to an announcement he made on January 22, 2022 via tweet, the update has been submitted for certification, which is a process that can “take a variable amount of time.” This means that he can’t guarantee an update at this point. He does, however, believe that the release will still likely occur in late January, if not early February.

The update was officially released for PC on December 21, 2020, a day after the developer teased some of its new content. Stardew Valley 1.5 for the PC added a split-screen multiplayer mode, post-game content, a menu of advanced game options, post-game content, and the ability to select a “beach farm” option. In the wake of the release, the game hit a new record for concurrent PC players with 94, 879 players playing the game at once.

Barone has also released a patch on PC that fixes a “fishing rod in head” bug that’s existed since the game’s original release.

Stardew Valley is available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and mobile devices. Be on the lookout for the 1.5 update in the coming weeks.
