Editor’s Note: If you haven’t played Star Ocean The Second Story before, there will be spoilers for some villains and fights in the footage below.

This Star Ocean The Second Story R video begins with a monologue from one of the Ten Wise Men, as well as both Japanese and English audio clips taken from important moments. After that, there are more focused moments involving specific villains. We see Zaphkiel first, then Metatron. Michael and Lucifer moments come up after that. The video shows that the original names will be used for characters. (In the original release, names changed for the localization and people weren’t named after angels.)

From there, we get to see some in-battle footage. Some involve bosses, but many show fights against normal enemies. Allies you might not recruit immediately, like Dias and Chisato, also come up.

This is the second Star Ocean The Second Story R trailer to appear this week. The first was a comparison video going over the introduction to Rena’s route. It featured scenes from the original 1998 game game, then showed how the 2023 release is handling those same moments.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R will come to the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on November 2, 2023. The game can also immediately be found on the PlayStation and PSP worldwide and the PS3, PS4, and Vita in Japan.
