The Star Ocean The Second Story R special edition comes with a four-disc physical soundtrack, a B5-size softcover art book, and set of 24 mini acrylic stands of the main characters and Ten Wise Men. It will cost $199.99/22,222円. The CD set included with it will apparently also be sold outside of this edition of the game.

The announcement also revealed a pre-order bonus for the JRPG. People who order ahead of launch get a number of in-game items. There is a pair of Forest Knuckles for Rena, a Pangalactic Federation Longsword for Claude, a Sunrise ring, and a set of recovery items that gives you 20 Mixed Berries and 20 Resurrection Potions. The Square Enix e-Store also gives people a Prism Badge that boosts a character’s stamina by 20.

The Star Ocean: The Second Story R standard and Collector’s Edition release date is November 2, 2023. It will come to the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. However, physical copies are only available for consoles. Past versions of the game are also available on the PlayStation, PSP, PS3, PS4, and Vita.
