Square Enix Will Do Something on March 29 For NieR’s 10th Anniversary

NieR 10th anniversary

NieR Gestalt and NieR Replicant were both released about 10 years ago in April 2010. Square Enix Producer Yosuke Saito and Director Yoko Taro tweeted that they will be doing something to commemorate the NieR 10th anniversary, no matter how big or small.

Saito first tweeted, “I’ll do something on March 29. At worst, even if it’s just Yoko-san and I, we’ll do something. Because it’s the 10th anniversary, we’ll hold it for 10 hours straight.”

The tweet came in light of the announcement yesterday that the ‘Stage YoRHa ver.1.3aa’ musical show based on NieR: Automata, which originally was to be performed from March 12-15, 2020, was going to be canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus concerns. (The NieR: Theatrical Orchestra 12020 has also been canceled.)

Either way, Saito made it clear that they are going to celebrate NieR‘s 10th anniversary in some fashion. On Yoko Taro’s side, he tweeted, “We’re gonna do this.” in response to Saito. While no details were given, something will be happening on March 29.

NieR originally released as two versions, NieR Gestalt and NieR Replicant for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, respectively, in 2010. The first game was spun off from one of the endings of Drakengard. It later got a significantly more successful sequel in 2017 with NieR: Automata, which eventually ended up on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
