It looks like Square Enix have plans to release a smartphone version of their 1994 Super Famicom title, Live A Live. Manga artist Yoshinori Kobayashi, who worked on some of the original game’s character designs wrote a blog that mentions a mobile release.
Here’s what he wrote on his blog post:
“The other day, Kubo-chan [likely referring to Michiyo Kubota] who worked on the Obocchama-kun manga came by for a visit, and said that a game called Live A Live will soon be available for mobile phones.”
“Live A Live started when I made a caveman character for it a long time go. I don’t remember anything about it. Kubo-chan showed me my own illustration for it, and I looked at it in admiration thinking ‘what a cool and humorous caveman’.”
“That is definitely my drawing, but I had completely forgotten about it.”
Keep in mind, that this isn’t an official announcement from Square Enix. Kobayashi was told that there are plans for a mobile version, which also reminded him of his long-forgotten work. This year is the 20th anniversary of Live A Live and it will be re-released at least as a Virtual Console title in Japan.
