Last year, Square Enix ported their GREE social network game, Chocobo’s Crystal Tower, to Facebook. The game takes place in a land littered with towers. You get to raise a chocobo, battle enemies and and make it to the top of every tower to earn treasure.
You can then use your hard-earned loot to customize your chocobo further. You can even breed chocobos in the game to give birth to a new hatchling. Like a lot of social games, Chocobo’s Crystal Tower is a free-to-play title with paid item purchases.
Chocobo’s Crystal Tower was being maintained and updated by Square Enix’s Japanese division. Today, Square Enix Europe that they’re taking over the game’s development and plan to make changes and improvements to it, based on community feedback. You can try the game out here.
Square Enix Europe, formerly the holding company for Eidos studios, also recently resurrected True Crime: Hong Kong, cancelled by Activision, who were originally going to publish the game. They’re also overseeing development of Heroes of Ruin on the Nintendo 3DS and were responsible for publishing games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum.
