Splatoon 3 Release Date Announced, Splatoon 2 DLC Joins NSO Expansion Pack

Nintendo offered a barrage of Splatoon announcements on April 22, 2022. First, it revealed the Splatoon 3 release date. It will appear on the Switch on September 9, 2022. However, there’s news for Splatoon 2, as its Octo Expansion DLC is now part of Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.

To go along with the Splatoon 3 release date announcement, Nintendo shared a new trailer and details about the single and multiplayer campaigns. If you go it alone, you’ll become Agent 3. Your goal will be to explore Alterna. As usual, the Octarians will be your enemies. As for the multiplayer modes, which require Nintendo Switch Online if you play online, Salmon Run co-op and 4v4 Turf Wars return. The former has new enemies and stages. The latter includes new stages and weapons. For example, you can use a Stringer bow weapon and and fight at Eeltail Alley.

As for the Splatoon 2 DLC, anyone with the NSO Expansion Pack can access it now. They can head to the eShop to download the add-on. As long as their subscription is active, they can access the additional campaign. It features more challenging levels that can also involve puzzles and boss fights. If you complete it, you can make your avatar an Octoling instead of an Inkling.

Splatoon 3 will appear on the Nintendo Switch on September 9, 2022. Splatoon 2 is on the Switch now, and its Octo Expansion DLC is now part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
