At the very end of the Splatoon 2 World Championships 2019, Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami appeared to congratulate the winning team, GGBoyZ from Japan, as well as announce the final Splatfest theme, date, and details on the Ver. 5.0 update for the game.
SPLATOCALPYSE – CHAOS VS ORDER
With Pearl advocating Chaos and Marina representing Order, the final Splatfest is set to bring things to an end. A new trailer shows off that Pearl and Marina will be supported by Callie, Marie, and various characters from Hero Mode, Octo Expansion, and Splatoon on Wii U.
During this Splatfest, every iteration of Shifty Station is set to make an appearance, being rotated every so often.
Like with Splatoween, Frosty Fest, and Springfest, new Gear will be given out for this event, with two representing each game.
The Final Splatfest will be held for an unprecedented 72 hours from July 18 at 5am PT to July 21, 2019 at 4:59am PT.
Ver. 5.0 Update
With Ver. 5.0, a new mode for Private Battles titled Turf War (Splatfest) will be available. Apart from being able to play the regular stages at nighttime like in Splatfests, every iteration of Shifty Station will also be available for the choosing.
Nogami ended by saying that Ver. 5.0 will mark the end of Splatoon 2’s regular content updates, but that the online service will continue on, so he hopes that players continue to enjoy the game.
Splatoon 2 is available on Nintendo Switch.
