Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered has launched for the Windows PC, with a new trailer and blog post. The blog post includes some quotes from the development team regarding choices they made in the porting process. Most of the enhancements focus on wide-screen gaming.

The trailer for the PC port focuses more on the actual game itself. Aside from scenes of web-slinging action you can partake in as Spider-Man, it features cameos from some classic villains. Scorpion and Rhino, for example, make brief appearances.

As mentioned earlier, the blog post for the PC port mostly features how the game supports ultra-wide monitors and multiple screen setups. According to Coen Frauenfelder, who is the Lead Software Engineer, the team decided to add support for 32:9 screens (48:9 for a triple monitor setup) because gamers enjoyed 21:9 aspect ratio support in other games.

For some cinematics, however, they look the best in 16:9. Normally, companies place black borders to block off the excess space. But Nixxes altered the scenes to fit in ultra-wide view. Members of the team went through cutscenes and told the engineers and artists what they needed to change. As a result, you can view cut scenes in up to 32:9. For monitors that have a higher aspect ratio, the edges of the cut scenes are blurred out.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is available on PS4, PS5, and Windows PC. A PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will appear in Fall 2022.
