With the imminent launch of the PlayStation 5, support for its predecessor PlayStation 4 inevitably begins to be phased out. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced in Japan that it will no longer accept repairs for the first PlayStation 4 models CUH-1000 and CUH-1100 after December 25, 2020. [Thanks, Game Watch.]
The Japanese press release noted that SIE had to end repairs for these early PlayStation 4 models because it is running out of spare parts needed to fix them. Even with the last orders made for these models through the Online Repair Reception Service and PlayStation Customer Support on December 25, 2020, the company will only deal with consoles that arrive at the PlayStation Clinic by January 8, 2021.

The first models are hardly found in stores nowadays as they had been replaced by the CUH-2000 PlayStation 4 Slim, which launched worldwide on September 15, 2016. This announcement even coincided with the more powerful CUH-7000 PlayStation 4 Pro release exactly four years ago on November 10, 2016.
Japan was one of the last countries in the world to receive the PlayStation 4 on February 22, 2014. The console was launched first in the United States and Canada on November 15, 2013, and most other countries also had it available before Japan.
