Sony Says PS5s Will Still Be In-Stock This Year

ps5 in-stock

It’s rare to see the PS5 in-stock at the moment. However, Sony took to Twitter in an attempt to offer an update on the current situation. It said that people will see the system in stores still in 2020. However, there are no exact dates for any PS5 restocks. It also announced this was its “biggest console launch ever,” but didn’t provide exact figures going over how many systems have been shipped or sold.

Here’s Sony’s PS5 announcement, which seems designed to reassure people.

While we don’t have a lot of exact numbers from the company, it did hint at how well it did even ahead of launch. Back in October 2020, Reuters interviewed Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan. There, Ryan said that in only 12 hours, there were as many PS5 pre-orders as there were after the PS4 had been available to pre-order for 12 weeks. We also know that, in Japan, Famitsu estimated about 118,000 PS5s were sold in the first four days following its launch.

There’s no word on when we could see a PS5 restock. However, multiple stores have mentioned they will have some systems during their Black Friday 2020 sales. For example, GameStop says it will have the Xbox Series X and PS5 in-stock.

The PlayStation 5 is available worldwide.
