Sony announced that its rewards program will end on December 31, 2024, after which all points will be forfeit. The scheme also allowed customers to register for Sony credit cards, which will be the only way to earn more points from now until the final deadline.
The Sony Rewards program allowed members who purchased items from the Sony store to earn loyalty points, which could then be redeemed for discounts and other items like gift cards and t-shirts. Roughly speaking, every dollar spent would earn one point. These, in turn, were worth around 1 cent. Members could also sign up for a Sony Visa credit card that earned points on other eligible transactions. After June 20, 2024, the use of these cards will be the only way to earn points up until the December 2024 deadline, though whether the cards will be usable normally after the fact is yet to be detailed.
Here is the official tweet announcing the change:
Earlier in June 2024, a Genshin Impact-themed Playstation 5 console bundle was revealed for future sale in Japan. Meanwhile a new Astro Bot game was revealed at the Sony State of Play in May, 2024.
The Sony Rewards program will end on December 31, 2024, after which all rewards points will be forfeit.
