Sony have sold their online games division, Sony Online Entertainment, to an investment firm named Columbus Nova. The developer has been renamed “Daybreak Game Company” and will now bring its games to a wider range of platforms, including Xbox and mobile.

Sony Online Entertainment is best known as the developer of EverQuest. Under Columbus Nova, SOE—now Daybreak—will continue work on EverQuest, H1Z1, and other projects that were already in progress, according to a post on the SOE forums.

“In fact, we expect to have even more resources available to us as a result of this acquisition,” the company says in its forum post. “It also means new exciting developments for our existing IP and games as we can now fully embrace the multi-platform world we are living in.”
