Another one of the Sony studios has closed. GamesIndustry.biz has reported that Manchester Studio will be shuttered. It has only been open since 2015 and originally opened to focus on PlayStation VR games.

Sony’s Manchester Studio was supposed to have a focus on PlayStation VR games and was founded before the headset launched. However, it never ended up creating any of its own games. The last word from it came in January 2019. That’s when a job listing went live asking for a Senior Level Designer who would work with the now-closed Manchester Studio and still-active London Studio.

As a reminder, London Studio has been working on PlayStation VR games since the headset launched. It created PlayStation VR Worlds alongside its debut and released Blood & Truth in May 2019.

Sony currently has fourteen active Studios. In Europe, Guerilla Games, London Studio, and Media Molecule are all still active. Previously, it also had Bigbig Studios, Camden Studio, Evolution Studios, Guerilla Cambridge, and Studio Liverpool also in England.

In other recent Sony news, Japan Studio has a new head. Astro Bot: Rescue Mission Director Nicolas Doucet has been named its head. Also, Media Molecule is about to launch Dreams in February 2020.
