While April Fools’ Day is traditionally one where people have to be wary, Sony’s latest updated PlayStation Store terms are legitimate. People are now able to cancel PlayStation Store preorders. In addition, if someone makes a digital purchase, they can now cancel it within 14 days of purchasing it if they have not yet downloaded it. This information all appears on the North American PlayStation website. (Thanks, Resetera!)

With PlayStation Store preorders, purchases can be canceled ahead of their release date. The money you paid for it will go into back to your original payment method (or PSN Wallet, if that is not possible) after the refund is approved. If the product has already been released and you have not yet downloaded it, then you can request a refund within 14 days of its release.

The PlayStation Store refund policy for products that aren’t preorders only involve the 14-day window. People who buy something, even promotional bundles, but then don’t download or stream it, will have two weeks to get their money back. Again, the refund goes into the PSN Wallet.

If people have downloaded or streamed a digital purchase from the PlayStation Store, then there is one way to “return” it and get a refund. The official site says, “Digital content that you have started downloading or streaming, and in-game consumables that have been delivered, are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty.” It also reminds people to turn off Automatic Downloads by unchecking “Application Update Files” in the Automatic Downloads in the System section of Settings, so things won’t be automatically downloaded and people can request refunds.
