Additionally, in a report by Reuters, Sony Interactive Entertainment Chief Executive Jim Ryan mentioned that Sony has “pre-sold as many PlayStation 5 units within the first twelve hours of its availability as the PlayStation 4 did during its first twelve weeks.” Due to complications surrounding the initial PlayStation 5 pre-orders, Sony released an apology statement in the wake of the first wave.

However, the report does go on to mention that the amount of monthly active PlayStation users declined from 11.4 million to 10.7 million users.

More information about the console was revealed through a recent demonstration video. This included a look at the ventilation systems and how users will be able to change the PlayStation 5 between vertical and horizontal placement. In September 2020, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan mentioned that 99% of PlayStation 4 games can be played on the PlayStation 5.

The PlayStation 5 will launch in Australia, Japan, North America, and South Korea on November 12, 2020. It will appear worldwide on November 19, 2020.
