SNK Playmore has announced that it has stopped making pachinko slot machines and will be re-focusing its efforts on making console and smartphone games (thanks Dream Cancel).

The Japanese company started making pachinko machines back in 2004 but due to a dwindling demand for them and regulatory changes causing uncertainties in the pachinko business, the effort has now been dropped entirely.

For now, it’s full-steam ahead on projects such as The King of Fighters XIV and leveraging other popular IPs including Metal Slug and Samurai Spirits. The recent partnership with Chinese company Ledo Millennium will be used to create synergy in the mobile games sector.

Staff that were previously geared towards working on pachinko machines will be assigned to the games division.
