Nintendo are currently providing Nintendo 3DS development kits to leading developers all over the world. Develop magazine reports that, from early next year, their distribution efforts will expand to include smaller indie developers as well.
Develop’s report cites reliable information from developers as its source. The goal, according to the report, is to have a wide variety of games developed for the system and to quickly ramp up the system’s catalogue following launch.
We know for a fact that certain indies such as Renegade Kid are already licensed 3DS developers, and that certain other indies are tying up with publishers to gain earlier devkit access.
Having more up and coming talent being able to develop games for a system with fresh ideas is always real treat, so we look forward to seeing what 2011 holds. Some of the things we’ve already heard are rather…pleasant.
