The PC version of turn-based strategy game Skulls of the Shogun was initially exclusive to Windows 8 PCs. Today, however, developer 17-BIT announced that they will release a Steam version of the game that will run on non-Windows 8 PCs as well.

The Steam release, titled Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition, features the full campaign and multiplayer modes from the original, as well as a challenging new four-chapter episode that takes place after the original’s ending. This episode has a new protagonist and a new unit type, the Tanuki, who can confuse enemies with teleport spells and taunts.

Also available will be a developers’ commentary mode and a new introduction theme performed by chiptunes DJ, Mega Ran.

“After the original game launched, we were delighted by all the positive reviews and player feedback, but realized there were a few features we could add to power-up Skulls and make it even better.” said Jake Kazdal, CEO of 17-BIT. “We’re delighted to bring that definitive version of Skulls of the Shogun to Steam, which adds a ton of original content and enhanced multiplayer features. We hope it’s worth the wait.”

Skulls of the Shogun will be available on Steam in July. You can pre-order it for a discounted price of $11.99. Post-release, the game will cost $14.99.
