Character creation in RPGs always has a lot of appeal for players, but from time to time, it throws an option at us that feels a little confusing. In Hogwarts Legacy, this could very well be when you are asked if you want to be a Witch or a Wizard. Part of the concern will be that certain areas of the games, quests, or activities might be locked behind the choice. In this guide, we will tell you everything you need to know about this choice in the game.
Does it matter if you pick a Witch or a Wizard?
No. The good news is that you can pick whatever you like for this part of your character. You won’t lose access to any quests, items, or areas of the game. Everyone will treat you the same, interact with you the same way, and give you the same dialogue options, no matter what you choose. The only impact this actually has is which dorm you get put in. This is maybe the least important aspect of the game, as I can’t remember spending a massive amount of time there anyway. You do get full character customization options which allow you to adjust almost all aspects of your character, so you should be able to find something that suits your preferences or that you feel is representative of you as a person.
As for the overall impact that the choice to be a Witch or Wizard makes, it is almost minimal. There are no options for romance in the game, so whether you share your dorm with other Witches or Wizards doesn’t matter at all. Most importantly, you definitely won’t miss any major story beats, so you have no need to worry about that. No matter the option you pick, you should consider connecting your Harry Potter fan club account to your WB Games account for some free stuff, however.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC via early access, and will be available to everyone on February 10, 2023.
