Starfield has one of the most nerve-wracking main story quests, during which players have to pick whether to defend the Constellation Lodge or head to The Eye. This happens during the “High Price to Pay” quest, deep into the main story, and it is one of the most important decisions you can make.

Which Location Should You Visit First in Starfield?

During the “High Price to Pay” Starfield quest, players are being hunted down by the Starborn, such as The Hunter, and must make a choice. After a distress call, you have the option to stay behind at the Constellation Lodge and protect the artifacts or go to The Eye and protect a treasured companion.

Note: There are going to be some heavy spoilers ahead for High Price to Pay and certain characters. Turn away now if you are averse to spoilers.

Whichever decision you pick will have permanent and lasting effects on the rest of your playthrough. If you stay behind and protect the Constellation Lodge, the NPC companion that called you at The Eye will be dead when you arrive there.

On the other hand, if you leave the Lodge and go to The Eye first, you will lose a different companion. These two companions in question are generally considered to be the ones you have the most approval with at this point in the story. For me, it was Barrett and Sarah Morgan.

Barrett was at The Eye since he wasn’t traveling with me at the time, and I chose the Constellation Lodge first. So he was dead when I arrived at The Eye. I will note you get to see the person who dies again in the future, but it won’t be the same.

To answer your question, yes, it is possible to save both but only on New Game+. In your initial playthrough, you can only save one a la Mass Effect. Pick carefully based on the companion you want to save and keep romancing or traveling with.

Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
