GOG has added two of Shinji Mikami’s most recent works to its catalog, and has temporarily greatly dropped their prices in the process. People can now pick up both The Evil WIthin and The Evil WIthin 2 from its storefront at 75% off. The offer will be available until April 23, 2020. While the add-ons might not be as drastically reduced, they are also discounted during this period.
The Evil Within is $4.99 during this deal, instead of $19.99. Its add-ons The Assignment, The Consequence, and The Executioner are all reduced, with the first two being $1.99 and the briefer The Executioner at $1.19. This first entry takes Sebastian Castellanos and his fellow detectives into Beacon Mental Hospital, which instead takes them into another, supernatural and horrific sort of world.
The Evil Within 2 is temporarily $9.99 instead of $39.99. After the events of the first game mentally ravaged Sebastian and his family fell apart, he’s a broken man and has left his position as a detective. When he learns that his daughter, Lily, might actually still be alive, he heads into a virtual town called Union that has gone horrifically wrong. While it has no add-ons, it did eventually get a first-person mode.
As for Mikami, his next game is still in development. Ghostwire Tokyo was announced at E3 2020. As with The Evil Within, it is a supernatural horror game, only this time it involves people being spirited away from Tokyo.
The Evil Within is available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. The Evil Within 2 is available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
