You will need three to five players, as well as a GM to play. As you can imagine from the title, it will have lots of terms that a Shin Megami Tensei player should be familiar with. The references to Shin Megami Tensei aren’t just in the spells you can use and demons you can fight. Shin Megami Tensei: Tokyo Conception will include systems from the game. You’ll be able to negotiate with demons, as well as inflict or be inflicted by status ailments. That’s on top of the usual TTRPG elements of rolling dice.

Tokyo Conception plays within the world of Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne, but you will not need to have played that first in order to play the TTRPG. In fact, according to the publisher, you won’t need to have knowledge of the franchise at all to leap in and understand the plot. The book will contain nearly 100 pages with demon stats, as well as seeds, so you can use it to make your own campaign as well.

Shin Megami Tensei – The Roleplaying Game: Tokyo Conception will come out on September 10, 2024.
