Below is a look at some highlights from the interview with producer Sohei Niikawa and director Kazuya Takasu.

  • Their biggest objective is to return to their roots.

  • The previous game was the highest in sales, but it was also harshly criticized by the players. For this reason, it was decided that they will go back to their roots as they advanced through the development.

  • Since there were opinions on the previous game not depicting the fear of urban legends, producer Niikawa, who is in charge, has taken it upon himself to write the plot for Shin Hayarigami 2.

  • In order to spread the game out more, they’ve decided to go multi-platform with the three of PS4, PS3, and PS Vita.

  • As far as system goes, there won’t be many changes. The self-question feature will be back, and there’s also a gap record for the scenario.

  • Saki Hojo from the previous game is the protagonist.

  • The background graphics are being made by processing photographs. There will be about four times more compared to the previous game.

  • The scenario work is already done, and Niikawa is currently working on another title.

  • Unlike the previous title, this time the game will follow past traditions.

Shin Hayarigami 2 will release in Japan on July 7, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. It’ll go for 7,538 yen for PS4 and PS3, and 6,458 yen for the PS Vita version.
