Here’s something interesting. Shantae: Risky’s Revenge for DSiWare has netted itself an “Everyone 10+” rating from the ESRB. The catch is that the rating summary mentions “large jiggling breasts” and manages to make it as unexciting as possible.
This is a side-scrolling action game in which players assume the role of a genie that explores a whimsical fantasy world and attempts to foil the plans of evil pirates. Players use magical weapons such as orbiting spiked balls, flames, and electrical clouds to defeat enemies (e.g., zombies, skeletons, slime). Most enemies disappear after being struck; some burst into bones when defeated. Some female characters are depicted with exaggerated-size breasts that jiggle slightly during gameplay. Players are able to view still-images of characters in bikinis, and dialogue includes references such as “JUGS are always filled [with] goodies, and come in all shapes and sizes!” and “Hoist my booty through the roof!” One character briefly discusses how emptying his bowels helped him to make off with treasure.
I suppose the 10+ rating arises from the fact that the ESRB figured no one below that age would catch the innuendo. But imagine the look on a mom’s face if she caught her kid playing through that portion of the game…
