Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is headed to the Nintendo 3DS in late Summer 2014, but the platformer is also coming to the Wii U, developer WayForward have revealed to Nintendo Life.
The Wii U version of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will feature HD artwork and will support off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad. Additionally, both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of the game will also support touch-based inventory management and a real-time map displayed on the second screen.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, which is inspired by the “Metroidvania” genre, was originally supposed to launch in Q2, but WayForward creative director Matt Bozon said to Nintendo Life that the team is using its final weeks of development to “reduce backtracking” and tune the game’s difficulty.
