Marvelous has announced that it will end the service for Senran Kagura: New Wave G Burst on October 30, 2020. Sales of gacha and other items will cease on September 30, 2020, and the game will show six different Ending Scenario events that rotate weekly from September 1 to October 5, 2020. [Thanks, 4Gamer.]
Senran Kagura: New Wave is a mobile card battle game that can be accessed on iOS and Android devices, as well as older feature phones. It was first released on the GREE platform on November 28, 2012, and more platforms were added subsequently with Mobage in September 2013, mobcast in March 2016, and dGame in November 2016.
In February 2014, the game was rebranded to New Wave G Burst as it received a major update that added even more characters. The game will close down in October 2020, just one month short of its 8th anniversary.
New Wave will be remembered for introducing a lot of original characters—more than 40—into the series. One of the characters that debuted in this game, Bashou, also made her way into the console game Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash.
Although New Wave G Burst will be shut down soon, Marvelous still has another active Senran Kagura mobile game in Japan. Shinobi Master Senran Kagura: New Link is a team battle game app that was more recently launched for Android and iOS devices on November 29, 2017. It is also available on PC via DMM Games from November 2018.
