The Scott Pilgrim anime will be produced by Science SARU, whose previous work includes Inu-Oh and two shorts for Star Wars: Visions. Abel Gongora, the director of one of those shorts (T0-B1), will be directing the project. He previously worked on OK K.O! Let’s Be Heroes. Based on the trailer, the visual style of the anime will be drawing heavily from the original Scott Pilgrim comics.

The Scott Pilgrim anime is the latest adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series about a Canadian slacker who must fight his new girlfriend’s evil exes. This adaptation draws on elements of previous ones, with the 2010 movie Director Edgar Wright acting as executive producer. The trailer also highlights that the entire movie’s cast will be reprising their roles, including Michael Cera, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Anamanaguchi, who worked on the soundtrack of the game, also previously confirmed their involvement.

The Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime release date is November 17, 2023. It will be streaming on Netflix.
