Lovecraft-inspired exploration game Conarium puts players in the shoes of Frank Gilman, a member of the Anthropology Department in the Miskatonic University. The game will follow him in the aftermath of an experiment meant to pass beyond the limits of human consciousness, sending players to strange worlds filled with surreal sights and deadly horrors.
Taking place in the aftermath of the novella At the Mountains of Madness, players will find themselves alone in an Antarctic base. Over time, they will discover that Frank has died, but has returned to the world with memories of strange places and beings.
Players can explore the base, as well as their dreams, visions, and memories, discovering clues and secrets pertaining to the game’s story. They will want to avoid the beings that also wander these worlds, though, as these creatures are all extremely dangerous.
Conarium is due to release in Q1 2017. It is also set to release on consoles sometime after that.
