The teaser site for the Saiyuki Reload Zeroin anime announced earlier this year is now up. As well, the official Twitter for the Saiyuki Reload Zeroin anime has started a nostalgia campaign. They are looking back on key moments from the beginning of Sanzo’s journey to the west. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

The premise of Saiyuki follows the monk Genjo Sanzo on his journey to India in order to stop the resurrection of Ox-Demon-King, Gyumaoh. He is accompanied by monkey king Son Goku, half-demon Sha Gojyo, and human-turned-demon Cho Hakkai. The “Saiyuki Playback” hashtag on the Saiyuki Reload Zeroin Twitter explores earlier events from the series. For the first week, they introduced the first chapter of Volume 1.

Kazuya Minekura’s long-running manga series Saiyuki has had many animated adaptations in the past. For example, the first series Gensomaden Saiyuki aired from April 2000 to March 2001, with a total of 50 episodes. The “Even a Worm” arc ran for 37 chapters in the Saiyuki Reload manga and though aspects of it were used in the Saiyuki Reload Gunlock anime, it was not a faithful adaptation. Saiyuki Reload Zeroin will properly follow the events of “Even a Worm.”

There is no announced release date for Saiyuki Reload Zeroin. However, there will be additional Saiyuki playbacks on the anime’s official Twitter, as well as other campaigns in the future.
