By Melee weapons like swords and hammers aren’t your only option in Rune Factory 4. Like the previous Rune Factory games, you’ll also be able to use staves and play as a magic-based character instead of a melee one. This morning, Marvelous AQL released a short clip of one of the staff weapons:

Of course, the polar opposite of the staff is the Fist or Glove weapon, which lets you get your hands dirty instead of striking safely from a distance:
