Rogue Legacy 2, the long-awaited sequel to Cellar Door Games’ multi-generational roguelike platformer, is still on the way. But now, Cellar Door Games is asking the fans for some help to make Rogue Legacy 2 as good as it possibly can be. To that end, on both Steam and the Epic Games Store, Cellar Door Games is releasing Rogue Legacy 2 as an Early Access title on July 23, 2020. For those who may be hesitant about this title coming out in this way, Cellar Door Games has already explained that this Rogue Legacy 2 Early Access period is a supplement to the team’s already-existing release plan roadmap.
On the Steam page, there’s a sort of Q&A with Cellar Door Games, which explains that the team took in a lot of feedback from fans during the first Rogue Legacy‘s development. The team was also impressed by the post-release mods fans built, so for the sequel they decided to officially include the fan base in development. So with the Early Access period, the current plan is to release the “full” or 1.0 version of the game after about a year. During that period the plan is to increase the price twice, starting at $19.99, then bumping it up to $29.99 for the true launch.
Rogue Legacy 2 Early Access comes to both Steam and the Epic Games Store on July 23, 2020. No further release dates or platforms are available at this time.
