Another one of Sting’s Dept. Heaven games is coming back, and the developer is heading back to the beginning. The developer announced it is working on a Riviera: The Promised Land remaster, but didn’t announce platforms or a date. There’s only an initial logo confirming the HD remaster on Twitter in honor of the game’s 21st anniversary. It first debuted on the WonderSwan Color on July 12, 2002.

Here’s Sting’s official reveal. More details will appear later.

Riviera: The Promised Land follows Ein, Cierra, Fia, Lina, Serene, and Rose the cat as they protect their world from evil. In addition to being an RPG, there are relationship elements. This means Ein can grow closer to his allies and unlock endings with them. While the original WonderSwan Color game didn’t appear worldwide for obvious reasons, we did see companies like Atlus and 505 Games pick up the GBA and PSP versions and release them worldwide.

There’s no confirmation of a worldwide release yet for this remaster. It might not happen, as we haven’t seen many of Sting’s other recent releases. For example, the other Dept. Heaven game rereleases of the Knights in the Nightmare Remaster and Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone never appeared outside Japan.

Riviera: The Promised Land Remaster is in development for unspecified platforms.
