Resident Evil Village Sales Surpass 5 Million Units Worldwide

Resident Evil Village Sales worldwide

Capcom announced that sales for Resident Evil Village have surpassed 5 million units worldwide. Additionally, the rate at which Resident Evil Village is selling has now surpassed the pace of Resident Evil 7 upon its initial release. Capcom contributes the high sales of Resident Evil Village to the use of photorealistic graphics and the broad scope of horror it explored within the game. Capcom also mentions that it will continue to develop the Resident Evil brand and continue to pursue collaborations with other companies. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

In July 2021, Resident Evil Village surpassed 4.5 million units in sales worldwide. To celebrate, Capcom released a series of paid DLC item packs. In early October 2021, Capcom revealed Resident Evil 7 had sold 10 million units worldwide. This has effectively made Resident Evil 7 the best selling title in the series to date. However, given time Resident Evil Village could take that place.

As it stands, Resident Evil Village has now officially sold more than the original release of Resident Evil 2. Both Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 sit above it at 7.9 million units sold. Additionally, Capcom announced plans for Resident Evil Village DLC. However, further information about the DLC has yet to be revealed. More information will arrive at a later date.

Resident Evil Village is now available on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC.
