Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide. The game joined prequel Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and the 2019 remake of Resident Evil 2 as series entries that have reached the major milestone.
Even though the latter two games already have higher lifetime sales with over 13 million units sold as of March 2024, Capcom added that Resident Evil Village also broke the series’ time record for reaching the milestone. For comparison, the Resident Evil 2 remake debuted on January 25, 2019, and Capcom announced the major milestone after 1,266 days on July 14, 2022. Capcom released Resident Evil Village on May 7, 2021, so today’s announcement means that it reached the 10 million sales milestone earlier in 1,131 days.
The last reported milestone for Village was 8 million units in June 2023. That means in roughly a whole year since then, Capcom has seen two million more units of the game sold. Capcom’s Platinum Titles page also showed that Village had gathered 9.80 million units at the end of March 2024. It thus took slightly over two months for the game to amass around 200,000 more units to reach the milestone.
Resident Evil Village is readily available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and iOS devices.
