Capcom revealed sales for the Resident Evil 3 remake have hit 4.6 million units worldwide. This includes digital and physical sales of the title between the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Currently, Resident Evil 3 sits just behind Devil May Cry 5 on Capcom’s Platinum Titles list, at rank 14. According to Capcom’s 2021 Integrated Report, the remake of Resident Evil 3 was a financial success for the company. Capcom largely contributes the success of the remake to a large portion of digital sales for the title.
In April 2021, Capcom reported that sales for Resident Evil 3 remake had reached 2 million units worldwide after just five days of being released. About 50% of those sales were digital downloads. The original release of Resident Evil 3 sold 3.5 million units on the PlayStation.
Additionally, Capcom revealed that the Resident Evil series has sold a total of 110 million units worldwide as of March 1, 2021. This included the updated sales number for Resident Evil Village. As it stands, Resident Evil Village now sits at a 5 million units sold worldwide. This includes digital and physical sales for the title. However, Resident Evil 7 remains the best selling Resident Evil title to date, having surpassed 10 million units in sales worldwide.
