Rebranded memory cards for gamers

Recommended Videos

Since the Wii and PS3 use the standard SD format instead of some awkward memory card, Lexar thought up a marketing strategy to sell their memory cards to gamers, slap on a label. The Lexar Gaming Edition cards offer nothing special that their other cards have, except for swirls on the package and compatible with Wii / PS3 labels. If they really wanted to get some extra sales why not throw in free save games? Or a pre-downloaded Playstation 3 game as a bonus? Would a copy of fl0w or an Ocarina of Time SD card convince you to get a “gaming edition” card?
