It’s been a few months since we’ve gotten an update regarding R-Type Final 2, but Granzella revealed that a demo for backers of the shoot ’em up will release in July 2020 in a new Monthly Report. It turns out that the lockdown seems to have affected development of the title, which is why the demo for the game, originally scheduled for Spring 2020, was delayed until July. More info on the demo will be announced in next month’s Monthly Report. In addition, new art and screenshots were shared.
Here’s a look at a special customized version of the R-9A Arrowhead, the spacecraft from the very first R-Type. The Arrowhead’s colors have been customized, and several additional things, like the kanji for “love” and a kiss mark, have been added to the side.
This is a new screenshot of one of the R-Type Final 2 stages.
There’s also a screenshot showing off pilot customization for the first time.
Additionally, Granzella also showed off concept art for some of the enemies that we’ll be able to hunt down in-game.
Finally, Granzella introduced the R-11A Future World, which uses the Gallop Force to change the angle of its lasers depending on your current flight speed. At the very end, the developer reminded backers that they should enter their name for the staff credits by the end of July, desired game platform information by the end of September 2020, and their shipping address by October 2020.
R-Type Final 2 is in development for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is expected to release in December 2020.
