Taiwanese indie game developer Extend Studio has released its upgraded 2.5D Mega Man-esque robotic action platformer A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda EX for Windows on Steam.

A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda was originally released on Steam back in 2009, so this EX version of the game is considered an upgrade or a remake that comes with two new levels and a new playable character called Tarus who has with their own story and ending, soundtrack, fighting style, and abilities.

The five original levels have also ben retouched, while the GUI and weapon / ability systems, the character levelling and achievement system have all been completely redesigned. The game now also has high-res textures, and completely new animated sequences and cutscenes.

Lastly, the enemies and bosses have be re-balanced and kitted out with new AI. So, yes, that’s quite a few additions in this EX edition of A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda, then.

If you’re not already familiar with A.R.E.S., then all you need to know is that it’s a robot ass-kicking sci-fi adventure with plenty of upgrades, weapons, and armor. You play as Ares or new character Tarus to save the survivors of the Minos Space Station and uncover Zytron’s extinction agenda.

You can purchase A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda EX for $9.99 (launch discount puts it at $8.99 currently) for Windows on Steam right now. If you own the original version of the game then you get a 50% discount on EX and will also get the exclusive support drone Apollo.
