The PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 3 are getting a Chess game later this month, titled Pure Chess. Developed by Liverpool-based studio, Ripstone, Pure Chess includes three different Chess sets—Staunton, Checker, and Williams—and different backdrops like a museum, library and penthouse to play in.
Ripstone say they developed Pure Chess with the help of a Grandmaster, which is the highest title that can be awarded to a Chess player. The game includes tutorials to teach players both the basics of Chess as well as intermediate and advanced techniques.
Unfortunately, Pure Chess doesn’t have any online multiplayer, although you can play “by mail” with other contacts on your PlayStation Network list by sending them a move using a message. Pure Chess is already out in Europe. North America will see the game as a PSN download on May 29th.
