PSO2 PC New Genesis Character

People who are playing PSO2 on PCs will need to check their computer specs soon. The Japanese official website for Phantasy Star Online 2 posted a new important notice that the online MMORPG will receive a graphics engine update in mid-February 2021. This is to prepare for the upcoming launch of PSO2: New Genesis that will raise the game’s graphics standards.

The PC version of PSO2 is currently playable with the following minimum requirements: Intel Core Duo E6300 processor, An NVidia GeForce 7800GT or AMD Radeon HD2900XT graphics card, and 2 gigabytes of RAM. The new post-update specs aren’t available yet and will be announced at a later date. Players whose PCs will no longer meet the new minimum specs are recommended by Sega to either upgrade their PCs or consider moving to a console or cloud version.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new online game that will be directly connected to the original PSO2. Players will be able to bring characters created in PSO2 to New Genesis right away. A closed beta session that tests the connectivity between the base PSO2 and New Genesis, among others, will be held in early 2021 in Japan. Sega will also reveal more information on New Genesis with a live stream that airs on December 19, 2020.

The base Phantasy Star Online 2 is available on PCs in all regions worldwide. Japanese players can also play the online game on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch—the latter via a cloud version. The global client for the rest of the world is instead available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
