PS5 System Update Fixes Wi-Fi and PS4 Connection Issues

PS5 system software update

Sony Interactive Entertainment released a new system software update for the PlayStation 5 on December 9, 2020. This update brings the console up to version 20.02-02.30.00. Users who have had difficulty connecting the PS5 via Wi-Fi may want to try to get and install this new update, as it improves its connection stability with some routers.

This PS5 system update also fixed a couple of issues related to the PS4. There was an error that triggered when inputting text in some backward-compatible games. Another bug would cancel both downloads and data transfers when a user tried to download more content while transferring data from the PS4.

Previously, SIE released the PS5 version 20.02-02.26.00 update, which fixed issues where the system would occasionally delete game data installed from discs and would not charge the DualSense controller connected to the front USB port while in rest mode. The first system software update brought the console to Version 20.02-02.25.00 and helped fix the Queued for Download error.

The PlayStation 5, which launched in select countries first on November 12, 2020, is now available in many countries and regions around the world. Although SIE initially only mentioned that the PS5 had its biggest console launch without giving any worldwide sales figures, Famitsu reported that the console sold slightly over 200,000 units during its launch month in Japan.
