Prey For The Gods Looks A Lot Like Shadow Of The Colossus

Recommended Videos

Prey for the Gods doesn’t have a tragic love story and it doesn’t have an annoying (but loveable) horse, plus it’s set in a frozen tundra where wolves roam. But apart from that it sure does look a heck of a lot like Shadow of the Colossus.

Specifically, the single boss fight shown so far in screenshots and trailers draws parallels with Team ICO’s 2005 classic. It’s a gigantic and angry bipedal beast covered in rock-hard skin and areas of fur. From what is shown, it seems that, in order to defeat this boss, you have to climb up the furry parts, clinging on for dear life and hoping to avoid being eaten alive – whether or not you’re stabbing weak points, a la Shadow of the Colossus, isn’t shown.

In fact, all that the creative team at studio No Matters has revealed about Prey for the Gods so far is that you “play a lone hero sent to the edge of a dying world to discover the mystery behind a never-ending winter.”

You have only the clothes that you’re wearing – and a bow and arrow, it seems – and have to restore balance to the land by “surviv[ing] the colossal dangers that you encounter”.  Interesting that it doesn’t say anything about slaying these dangers but the trailer certainly suggests that you set out to.

Hopefully more details about Prey for the Gods will arrive soon. Keep an eye on the game’s website for when they do.
