There’s no doubt that Pokémon GO is still going strong all around the world. However, the mobile app has been causing problems in certain areas in the Netherlands. The Guardian reports that authorities in the country have announced that they are taking Niantic Labs, the game’s makers, to court over players swarming protected beaches.
Supposedly, hundreds of popular Pokémon appear every day in Kijkduin, south of the Hague, giving it the nickname of “the Pokémon capital of the Netherlands.” But with this influx of people roaming about, there is concern that the Pokémon trainers could be causing damage to the surrounding area.
The Hague authorities have said that they have tried multiple times to reach Niantic about the issue since mid-August. When those efforts proved unsuccessful, they explained that they “had no other choice” but to go to court.
Pokémon GO is available for iOS and Android devices.
